"Wow......this is great. Its been a bit of a drag having to pull my rear end twice in 8 months......but than again working on a E-type is not a bad day.....or week. I will get some of the red line oil in the next day or so."

"I believe it does make a difference.  You need a modern HYPOID or EP (extreme pressure) oil. If you consult the builder plate all the recommended oils for the Rear Axle are Hypoid or EP.  To the best of my knowledge, E-Type Ser 1 and 2…"

"One thing was mentioned to me regarding the fluids. I change out the rear end and used 90 weight oil, but did not include power lock. I do not know if this will make a difference? I am hoping to have this sorted out before I replace the unit."

Rear End Seizing

I have a 1966 E-type FHC that I have running after a fire in 1984. the car has 58,000 original miles and was in great shape from the firewall back.The fire damage has all been repaired and the car is running well with the exception of the rear end.the car rolls easily when cool and on short drives is very smooth. Torsion Bar removal

I am replacing my ball joints as well as doing a complete bushing upgrade. Removing the lower wishbone assembly involves removing the Torsion Bar.the bolts at the back of the Torsion Bar are mounted on the frame, and are very difficult to get to. The lower bolt is locked in place by a special washer that is flat at the top and acts as a lock washer. This washer appears to by splined as well, and is very difficult to remove.any tips at all would be appreciated.See More

1966 FHC is running

 I am just finishing my 1966 FHC. this car was in a fire in 1984 and everything under the bonnet was melted or singed. After re-wiring with harness from Welch my car started with the original points, spark plugs from 1984. I rebuilt the carbs and starter motor as well as brake and clutch master cylinders. I painted the car in its original color, Sherwood Green, the interior is Sage Green and is in next to prefect condition.

I am amassed and very satisfied to be able to keep a car so…
