XK140 dials and guages restoration

Hi,Am about to send off all my 140 dials etc for restoration and it strikes me it may just be cheaper to buy replacements?  Has anybody had experience of this?  My gauges are in barn find condition so the ultimate cost of restoring them is as yet unknown.   And I doubt there is any reason to be too sentimental about them as they came in a box when I bought the car so not necessarily off my car originally.Any thoughts would be useful.ThanksPhilipSee More

xk engine head type

Hi All, Quick and probably dumb question as I thought I had this straight and now am confused.   Just about to finish rebuild of my XK140 SE engine and the question has arisen as to what colour we should paint the head.   I don't have a C type head (which of course should be red).   Should I have a C type head?  Does the SE spec automatically imply C type head?  If yes then I have the wrong head as mine is not C type.    If no then what colour should my head be painted?  Thanks Philip  See More

Glad to see you made the connection with Bob Richards. It should be interesting seeing if you can both help each other out through the use of this site. I'm optimistic that the outcome will be positive. Good luck and if I can help you know how to reach me.:)

Hello Philip
Welcome and thanks for joining the Jaguar Social Network. On this site you will find about 38 other members with XK 140s. Feel free to contact and befriend any members on this site.

If you want to benefit from this site I would suggest you start by contacting ROBERT RICHARDS (British Columbia, Canada) as he is restoring an identical XK 140 OTS and doing the work himself. Another member from the UK in Essex is David Wright who owns an XK 140 FHC. You'll be able to find many more that will be happy to offer assistance or help. Help can also be found by using the Forums.

If you enjoy this site please INVITE other Jaguar Owners to join.
Best regards
Rafe
P.S. If you happen to be a member of Facebook please join us HERE and HERE
Cheers.
