PLEASE EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN DEALING WITH A CRAIGLIST AD.
Looks like a great car but the Seller gives no price and no phone number. Some great pics. Hmmm. Why Craigslist? If any member manages to connect with the Seller please post back. Click on the link below the picture to go to the ad.

It could be legit, but photos are easy to find and text is easy to add. The oddity for me is the capitalized words (all of them). Someone has a very strange typing habit, or thought it would help convey a naive-seller perspective. Intentional use of weak English is another element I've seen in the ads that are suspect, and not just for cars. (Seriously, if you were selling anything worth thousands of dollars, wouldn't you have one or two pals proofread your ad?)

Here is a brain teaser and a challenge for Carl and anybody else who might be interested. By doing some complex sleuthing on the pictures of that XK 120 I can POSITIVELY tell that the pics were hard copies, scanned on a flatbed scanner and then uploaded. How?

If I had a decent original and wanted to tell if it had been scanned, I'd first look for a visible pattern and then try to confirm it by subtracting a smoothed copy from the original (or other approaches). That still doesn't verify whether an image is from the true owner/seller, but would raise some questions.

If sellers pointed to their entry on XKdata or XKEdata and interested buyers used the phone number on those sites to make contact, there would be less chance of hijacking legit photos and registration numbers for bogus sales.
