SU CARBURETORS TUNING & REPAIR

XKs used 3 types of SU carburetors:

1. H 6* on XK 120, XK 140 and Mark 7 (Mk VII)
2. H. D. 6* on XK 150, Mark 8 (Mk VIII) and Mark 9 (Mk IX)
3. H. D. 8* on XK 150S and E-Types (XKE)

* When added to the number 1, these numbers are multiplied by 1/8 of an Inch which will give the size of the carburetor. Ex. 1 + ( 6 x 1/8) = 1 3/4 Inches, 1 + (8 x1/8) = 2 Inches.

For ordering or buying the right parts for your carburetor you will need to know  the type of needle and the jet size. The jet needle size is stamped on the side or shank of the needle.
