WANTED BRITISH JAGUAR KNIGHT IN (Old English) WHITE ARMOUR

I own these plates that were on a 1963 Jaguar Mark 10 that was brought into Canada in 1965. I tried to get these plates re-registered through the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). It was a very, very frustrating experience as I was bounced around the different departments, put on endless hold (pretty costly when you are calling from Canada), the usual stupid recorded messages or falling on some junior idiot clerk etc. Plus a number of emails back and forth all to no avail.

DVLA_Form_V765.pdf

To cut a long story short it is apparently feasible according to THIS DVLA PAGE and by filling out Form V765.(above). Could some "knight" assist me in this quest. I do not belong to any British Jag Clubs but would be more than willing to do so if that is required to get these plates re-registered. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help or shed light on the above. Please use the comment box for your responses.

I have no problem joining JEC as mentioned. David could you be so kind as to contact him on my behalf explaining the situation. I have tried calling a couple of times but because of the time difference did not manage to connect. The info I have on him is:

Reply from Keith:

Hi Rafe,
First the bad news!
I'm afraid you do not own the license plate. When a car is exported DVLA 'void' the number and to all intents and purposes it no longer exists. Only if the original Mark 10 were to be re-imported to the UK could you lay claim to the number.
Regards,
Keith

Actually does not make sense since the DVLA have or had no way of ever knowing that the Mark 10 left the UK nor do they have a system in place to void the plates. Think about it for a second. If you crossed the channel and left your car in France would the DVLA know about it? Obviously only if you inform them.

All good and well David. But there is no record that the Mark 10 left the UK. If a car is driven out of any country by its owner I guarantee you it leaves absolutely no paper trail for tax purposes or other. If on the other hand you were to export a car going through routine Govt. bureaucracy then yes of course there is a trace.
