Does anyone have experience with NSF coachbuilders in Portugal? They have attractive pricing. I am fishing for references prior to wiring money to them.
Thanks

Hi Richard
I'm not promising anything but add the FULL contact details of NSF and I'll send it to a couple of Jag contacts in Portugal. Might be able to get you the skinny.

You might also want to contact James Lawarence of Portsmouth Tel 44 (0) 1590 683288 a member of JSN who has very competitive rates. His firm is called Bill Lawarence and Son and they have been in the XK/E-Type panel biz for over 3 decades. There are 3 other JSN members who have used his services and they have nothing but praise for his work. I will be featuring some of his work on this site in the near future as it is really top notch.

Just got word back from one of my Portuguese contacts. He couldn't get any info as Madeira is an island 2000 Kms from the main land Portugal. We live and learn. An XK panel manufacturer in the middle of nowhere! Maybe Mr Faria has a helper called Friday which is why he has such attractive rates.

Thanks for your efforts, Rafe!. Mr. Faria has an impressive set of photos on his web site, but it made me nervous when he quoted the prices for the parts I needed with no shipping estimate. In addition, he did not ask me how much of the rear portion of a front fender I needed and he wanted me to wire money to him. His business may be fine, but I am not comfortable with this. I am currently talking to Don Westerdale in Ca. about some used parts he has. If this doesn't pan out, I can always go with Jorge in Ca. I felt he was awful high on the parts I need but, it maybe the only game in town. . Thanks again, Richard.

First a quick word about Jorge in Ca. even though I have never personally dealt with the man. Member Bob Richards who is restoring an XK 140 has. My understanding from Bob is Jorge's parts are good but far from perfect and that you have to fiddle around with them to get them to fit.

There IS another game in town called XKs Unlimited. Owner Jason Len is a member of this site. He is offering all JSN members a 15% discount off list. Contact him through this site with your requirements. I'm certain you can work out a deal with him. Any guy who can fix and maintain Jay Leno's cars (two of them) gets my vote of confidence. See THIS VIDEO.
BTW you never mentioned which XK and body style are you restoring.

I have no personal experience with NSF but over all I would recommend staying with the UK panel makers... We have had customers bring in cheap XK panels they bought in Mexico. They look nice and the prices were great, BUT by the time we spent the numerous hours making them fit there was no cost savings, in fact they wound up costing much more.

Jason
